My Emmys Love/Hate List

Emmy Awards

Oh look, the Emmy nominations are out. Oh look they fucked up a bit, but did get a few things right. Here’s my run down of my top talking points – good and bad.

What I loved:

STEPHEN ROOT IS FINALLY AN EMMY NOMINEE! I love him, I will follow him anywhere, he’s amazing in Barry give him the damn award! (And yes, I’m still carrying a grudge for Newsradio’s lack of love from the Emmys and it’s own network)
Schitt’s Creek love – I mean Catharine O’Hara is an international treasure and it’s a great reminder that Canada can make great shows. I’m a proud Maple Leaf today!
Mandy Moor getting her well deserved nod for This Is Us. She should have had one last year, and won, just for making everyone avoid Mars bars.
Christina Applegate – much like Stephen I will follow Christina anywhere, Dead To Me is perfect, again – give her the fucking award!

What I hate:

The sheer lack of network represenation. The Good Place and This Is Us are the two prominent shows holding down the Big 4 fort but there should have been more. Way more! Especially in the comedy categories.
Rhea Seehorn getting shut out. This is the one that pisses me off the MOST. She has always been a talking point for me on Better Call Saul, but this past season was alllllllllll hers. She owned it. So where the hell is the Emmy love?!?!
The academy sucking dragon dick haaaaaaard. I get it Game of Thrones is a huge show, and while it’s not my cup of tea I try to never shit on people’s fandom. However, I haven’t talked to a single person that enjoyed this season and yet it’s recieved a record breaking 32 nominations.
Dead To Me missing out on the comedy series category. One of those nominees stole it’s spot and I’ll let you figure out which one I’m talking about.
Tracee Ellis Ross no where to be found….. seriously, WTF voters??
Just the fact that the usuals are still here, there’s still not a standard 10 nominees across the board, and just how the fucking Emmy voting system is run. It’s still dog shit.

The Emmys will air September 22 from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, at 8pm ET on Fox.
