All day, every day on Netflix!
What can I say about Tina Fey and Robert Carlock’s new show, that isn’t already all over the internet? Not much.
If you are unfamiliar with the show’s premise, Ellie Kemper (a comedy Queen may I add) stars as Kimmy Schmidt, who after being kidnapped and locked in a bunker for fifteen years by a crazed preacher, is finally freed and takes up residence in Manhattan.
Yeah, doesn’t sound like a typical comedy show, does it? That’s because it’s not. It’s a Tine/Robert creation which automatically makes it off kilter and not for the main stream. If you’re a fan of 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, The Office, and the rest of those famed -yet albeit low rated – NBC comedy classics you’ll love Kimmy.
Kemper knocks it out of the park as the show’s name sake with her adorably optimistic and naive sensibilites. Then throw into the mix Jane Krakowski, Carol Kane, and the under rated Titus Burgess (you know D’Fwan!) and my goodness – you’ll not want to leave your sofa until all 13 episodes are binged.
This show will not be everyone’s cup of tea – hence why it’s initial network NBC probably decided to toss it to the curb (Well that, and they don’t know how to cope with comedy anymore. Just look at the now defunct Thursday night comedy night to see that!), but if you have Netflix I HIGHLY recommend trying it out.
My Prediction: Netflix has already ordered two seasons, so there’s not much more to say other than ALL HAIL FEYLOCK KEMPOWSKI! And try and get that theme song out of your head!
