Well it’s that time again – new fall season, and here I am to save you precious time with my reviews and thoughts….
Let’s kick it off with Lethal Weapon, FOX’s latest cop drama airing Wednesdays at 8pm.
Do you like CSI? What about NCIS?.. Law and Order?
If you answered yes to any, or all, of the above – Lethal Weapon is for you!
The action cop series starring Damon Wayans is the epitome of the cop genre. Street wise cop, paired with veteran detective – who just wants to have a quiet life until he can retire with his gold watch and pension, but hey – he can’t! He’s got to help solve [insert any type of crime here, but make sure it involves a kid – cuz that has impact]. Yeah, the pilot was just that good I can’t even remember what crime they were investigating.
I will be the first to admit again that this cop drama thing just isn’t my bag, and this review is probably skewed – but it’s my honest opinion. Cop shows = boring. Give us something different, we all know what’s going to happen – they’ll work together to solve the case! High five, let’s grab a drink. Okay, maybe that doesn’t happen but perhaps it should. The success of the Lethal Weapon films was in the pairing of the actors, which I will admit FOX has done a decent job of with this reboot, but the show falls flat with the humor. They’ve decided to take, in the pilot at least, a more cliched TV cop stance which I feel drains any sort of fun from the show, and make it just CSI:Whatever on a different network.
Either way I won’t waste your time by writing up some long winded review since like I said, if you like this genre then you’ll probably dig Lethal Weapon and being the lead in for Empire will probably help it’s chances of getting picked up.
