Mulaney (Sundays 9:30 FOX)

I’ll keep this review quick.

This was painful to watch on EVERY level. I know multi-cam sitcoms generally take a slagging off when compared to their single cam compadres – but this show isn’t even worthy of me taking the time to slag it off. It’s that bad.

The writing is terrible, the acting is hammy (guys you know you’re on a sitcom sound stage and not in theatre, right? – you don’t need to OVERACT everything. Or at all. Just stop.), and this is the epitome of doing a sitcom badly.

I can see why NBC passed on it twice (this current pilot is actually a revamped version, which NBC requested and then passed on again), but I have no idea what Kevin Reilly and FOX were thinking… I’m going to go with a panic buy.

My Prediction: Sweet Lord in Heaven, please end the pain now. It’s in a cushy spot on Sunday nights but I think the comedy savvy crowd that tune into Simpsons, Family Guy and Brooklyn 99 will be quickly turning this off…. if they ever chose to turn it on in the first place. Gone for sweeps.
