#FlashBack Friday: A League Of Their Own

Yeah, it was a show. And for my British readers – no I don’t mean the James Corden game show either. This is based on the Penny Marshall film from 1992.

The show premiered in April 10th 1993 on CBS, and I remember being SUPER excited since A League Of Their Own was (and still is) one of my all time favorite films.

Just like the film, the show revolved around the Rockford Peaches and had many of the characters returning to the small screen – just being played by different actors as only two members of the film’s cast reprised their roles – Tracy Reiner as Betty “Spaghetti” Horn, and Megan Cavanaugh as Marla Hooch. Sam McMurray took over the Tom Hanks role as Coach Jimmy Dugan, and a pre-Law & Order Carey Lowell played Rockford’s star catcher Dottie Hinson, made famous by Geena Davis in the film. Christine Elise as Kit Keller, Wendy McKenna as Mae Mordabito, and Tracy Nelson as Evelyn “There’s no crying in baseball” Gardner rounded out the all girls baseball team.

From what I remember A League Of Their Own was pretty funny – but I  must have been the only one who thought that since two weeks after it’s premiere CBS cancelled the low performing comedy, and I remember being heart broken.

I wish I could write more about this show since, again, I remember loving it but I can’t find a single thing on line for it except some old publicity stills on eBay and the opening credits video below. If anyone has ANYTHING for this show I’d love to see.

GOOOOOOOOO PEACHES!
